Narrabri’s much-loved Carp Muster returned at the weekend, with eager fishers turning out to rid the Namoi River of the invasive pest.

Up and down Narrabri Creek and along the Namoi riverbanks, community members and visiting muster-enthusiasts tossed their lines.

The annual family-friendly event, organised by the Narrabri Amateur Fishing Club, is a great way to raise awareness of the environmental impact of carp on our river systems, and of course, to serve as a great day out for the community.

The presentation of prizes, held at The Crossing Theatre, was again a popular part of the weekend as entrants shared in thousands of dollars worth of prizes.

Arabella Chaplain claimed the top prize for the Carp Muster.
