The Namoi Group council meeting was held in Narrabri recently. The day was hosted by the Edgeroi branch.
All branches apart from one branch were represented at the meeting.
Group handicraft judging took place in Gunnedah with seven branches entering the competition. Mrs. Ruth Shanks AM and Miss Ruth Cargill judged the members efforts to be forwarded onto state for final judging.
Congratulations to Mesdames Hilda Morris and Lola Braby who were presented with life membership by Mrs Shanks and Miss Cargill at the handicraft judging day.
Both Hilda and Lola have given decades of service to Goolhi branch and Namoi group.
The Namoi Group Land Cookery Handicraft Day will be held in Manilla Town Halls on March 26 when members will have their cooking skills tested, and learn the results of the handicraft competition. Those who are attending are reminded to take their own lunch or support local businesses handy to the town hall. Tea and coffee provided.
There were four entries in the Woman of Note competition. These will be judged locally and the winner forwarded to state for further judging.
Members were delighted to award two medical grants to two students from the Gunnedah area.Hollie Bennett is doing a placement soon at North West Cancer Clinic and is in her second year of radiation science.
Rachel Fairfull is studying a Bachelor of Nursing and is about to take part in a placement at Broken Hill. Best wishes to both ladies with their careers. Funding for these grants are available due to the support at AgQuip each year.
Members are reminded the annual Agricultural Environment Workshop is scheduled for September 14-15.
Sally Hunter is taking part in a 400km horse trek tracing the proposed gas pipeline route near Narrabri to near Newcastle. An event was held at Breeza on March 22.
Plans are underway for AgQuip 2026. There will be a photo competition. The topic will be horses.
Members were asked to make a craft item on sheep.
Congratulations to Mrs Bette Langton who has been elected Namoi Group treasurer.
Expressions of interest from branches has been noted if members are interested in the Money Matters Workshop.
A Land Cookery Learning Day is in the pipeline for later this year.
