In lieu of our usual monthly meeting in March, Garden Club members were invited to attend the Inner Wheel Clubs’ fundraising morning for their Cord Blood project which was scheduled for the same morning. Quite a number of members joined the Inner Wheel ladies for a delicious morning tea to support this very worthy cause.
Lindy McMicking hosted a committee meeting prior to the morning Tea.
As the hot weather finishes (we hope), many regional Garden Clubs are gearing up for a busy autumn and spring with plans for many events and open gardens over the next few months.
The North West Zone Picnic Day is always popular and is being hosted this year by the Tamworth Cottage Gardeners Inc at the Nemingha Hall on Saturday, April 18. Morning tea and lunch, guest speakers, trading tables and open gardens are all part of the day. Contact Sue or Noeline for details
Don’t forget to put the Gardeners Gala Day at Eulah Creek on Saturday, May 16 on your calendar. More details to come.
“Friendship through Gardens” is our main aim, and these events are always well attended.
Narrabri Clubs’ Spring program is taking shape and will be finalised soon.
The Narrabri Show is coming up on 1-3 May. Schedules are available at numerous outlets around town, so get your copy, check out the horticultural section and start planning your cut flower entries, as well as decorative arrangements. The Horticultural Pavilion is always a highlight with show goers, thanks to the efforts of everyone submitting their flower entries.
Our April meeting will be held on Wednesday 8 April at the Narrabri Golf Club, commencing at 10am. Morning Tea will be available for purchase from the Club.
We are re-introducing our trading table this month. Any donations of garden-related goodies will be greatly accepted. So, if you have a glut of vegies or fruit in your garden, or you’ve been busy making enough jam to feed an army, bring them along to share with others.
Visitors are always welcome and we look forward to seeing everyone there. Contact Sue 0459 629190 or Noeline 0427 922340 with any queries.
