SID Harvey has capped off a spectacular season with the NSW Waratahs to take out the inaugural Super Rugby Pacific Rookie of the Year award.

Harvey, a former junior Blue Boar, experienced his breakout season in professional rugby this year.

He made his debut in round 4 of the Super Rugby season, against the Hurricanes, as a substitute.

The NSW Waratahs reported that Harvey went on to have a significant impact in the competition, scoring 98 points across 11 appearances.

“As a result, he is the fourth-highest scoring player in 2026,” the side said when announcing Harvey’s honour.

The winger/fullback was delighted to win the inaugural award and thanked the Waratahs for the support and speed of his development.

“It’s incredibly special to win this award. It’s the first time this award’s been here so to win it, it’s pretty cool,” Harvey said.

“I’m incredibly grateful to the Waratahs for the opportunity to play so many games and to the coaches, Dan (McKellar), Locky (McCaffrey), Catty (Mike Catt), to back me and all the boys to continue backing me. Letting me make mistakes and letting me learn.

“I think it helped me massively and anything good I did was off the back of other people doing their jobs really well.”

Harvey also made his starting debut for Shute Shield side Easts (Eastern Suburbs Rugby Union Football Club) this month marking the continued rapid rise in his rugby career.

Harvey took to the field in his first grade debut for Easts in what was a dominant 101-5 victory.

For his debut Super Rugby Pacific season, his 98 points consisted of six tries, 22 conversions and eight penalties, playing across both wing and fullback.

Harvey has been well-supported by the community, which continues to celebrate his success in the sport.

From starting junior rugby with the Blue Boars in 2011, Harvey has marked a phenomenal rise over the years including his Country selection in 2022 and getting his first call-up for the Australian Youth Sevens in 2023.

Moving to Sydney in 2024, Harvey joined Eastern Suburbs and dominated the Shute Shield Firsts Colts competition.

In the same year, Harvey was selected for the Australia Sevens team and made his debut at the 2024–25 World Series in Dubai.

Harvey’s success continued last year when he was picked for Australia in the under-20s World Championships held in South Africa.

He was part of the Super Rugby AUS title-winning campaign before taking Super Rugby to a higher level when gaining selection for the Pacific squad.
