A COMBINED team of Wee Waa, Narrabri and Lightning Ridge players has claimed Bowls NSW’s State Pennant Finals in Division 4.
Wee Waa Bowling Club was represented by Dorothy and Kay Dewson as well as Melissa Allen.
For Narrabri Bowling Club, the winning team included Lisa Pillar and Bec Taylor.
Team one consisted of Melissa Allen as lead, Bec Taylor as second, Dorothy Dewson as third, and Kay Dewson as skip.
Team two consisted of Heidi Monch (Lightning Ridge) as lead, Christie Ravot (Lightning Ridge) as second, Sheila Nagy (Lightning Ridge) as third, and Lisa Pillar as skip.
Prior to the finals, the combined team had topped the section 4 ladder after winning two of three games played.
The ladies first defeated St Ives 46 shots to 23 and then Taren Point 51 shots to 31.
They were defeated by Soldiers Point in the third game 37 shots to 40.
The team started the finals series competing against Merrylands at Wollongong City Bowling Club last Wednesday where they won 47 shots to 33.
Team one was successful, winning 24 shots to 19, while team two won 23 shots to 14.
The ladies progressed to the next final series game, competing against Kingswood in the semi-final on the Thursday.
Team one had a narrow victory, defeating Kingswood 13 shots to 12 while team two was victorious 25 shots to 16. With scores combined, they won 38 shots to 28.
In the grand final, the combined Wee Waa, Narrabri and Lightning Ridge team faced off against Lake Cathie.
Team one just missed out on claiming a win against Lake Cathie and was defeated 15 shots to 16.
A decisive win on team two’s rink, however, propelled the local ladies to victory.
Team two defeated Lake Cathie on that rink, 27 shots to nine, giving a combined score of 42 shots to 25.
