Namoi United Football Club had a stellar weekend, playing games at home and in Tamworth.
First grade had a big win against Armidale City Westside FC, 8–1, with goals scored by Jacob Hopman, Cooper Brayshaw and Victor Matuku.
Reserve grade secured a win in a tighter contest, 2–1, with goals scored by Connor Hill and Cody Shepherdson.
The team then backed up, heading to Tamworth to take on the Hillvue Rovers in a round 20 fixture that was due to be played the previous weekend but was postponed because of wet weather conditions.
It was a mighty effort for the teams to play two games in two days, but they didn’t disappoint.

First grade claimed a 4–3 victory against Tamworth’s Hillvue Rovers in a remarkable comeback.
The team was down 3–0 before rallying to lock in the win, with Cooper Brayshaw, Kallan Marchant and Matt Urquart scoring the goals.
Reserve grade also secured a win, 3–0, with Mitchell Graham and Blake Stride the goal scorers.
Overall, Jacob Hopman scored four goals during the weekend’s games while Cooper Brayshaw found the back of the net an impressive five times.

Coach Neil Brayshaw said the club will head to Armidale this weekend to play, with first grade set to finish sixth and reserve grade seventh in the 12-team competition.
“I’m really proud of how the club has progressed, and we look to play finals football next year; that will be our number one goal,” he said.
Namoi United’s mighty team spirit was on display during the week too, with club community members coming together to back the Red Nose Day awareness campaign and fundraiser, supporting their teammate Dean Hamblin, his wife Shan and their family as they completed ‘Steps for Elli’. rednoseday.org.au/fundraisers/deanhamblin
