New nurses receive a warm Wee Waa welcome

The Wee Waa district gave the town’s new nurses a warm welcome on Saturday when the community hosted a barbecue on the hospital lawns. “It was great; it was just typical Wee Waa,” said Narrabri Shire mayor Darrell Tiemens, who attended the event. “Wee Waa comes out to welcome its newcomers; it was a wonderful welcome to Wee Waa for them. “Even during the course of it, one of the nurses was given access to one of the community houses that is there for essential workers.” The Lions club served up its signature barbecue and CWA members provided […]

Darrell Tiemens, Brett Nolan re-elected to lead shire

Narrabri Shire Council mayor Darrell Tiemens and deputy mayor Brett Nolan have been re-elected to their positions. Both Crs Tiemens and Nolan were the only nominees for each position at last Wednesday afternoon’s council meeting. General manager Eloise Chaplain presided over the election component of the meeting. This will see Cr Tiemens retain the mayoral role for the remainder of the council term, with council elections scheduled for September 2028. Cr Nolan will serve as deputy mayor for another 12 months. Six Wee Waa projects awarded community grants

Six local health and wellbeing projects have been selected for funding through the Wee Waa Collaborative Care Small Grants initiative, following two weeks of community voting. More than 400 votes were cast by community members to select their favourite ideas. These community-inspired projects will benefit people of all ages, and include a community garden, fun and practical workshops for young people, and free local events that build social connection and create opportunities for different generations to connect.
