NarraBRIGHT $2.2m benefit to local economy

THE sixth NarraBRIGHT festival delivered an estimated local economic boost of almost $2.27m and attracted 7,500 attendees. A report detailing the success of the event was tabled at last week’s council meeting, with elected members applauding the direct benefit to the shire. The festival’s total direct economic impact almost doubled last year’s estimated $1.19m. Increasing graffiti destructive: mayor

NARRABRI Shire Council mayor Darrell Tiemens has voiced his concern about increasing graffiti in the district while advocating for improved prevention resources to combat the matter. In a mayoral minute tabled at last week’s meeting, Cr Tiemens asked general manager Eloise Chaplain to report back to councillors about the council’s current graffiti management practices and opportunities to remove tagging and highly visible damage faster. Council calls for better incentives to attract and retain police officers in Narrabri Shire

NARRABRI Shire Council will call on the NSW government to address police staffing shortages, housing challenges and recruitment incentives. Mayor Darrell Tiemens is set to write to the NSW Minister for Police and Counter-terrorism Yasmin Catley and the Member for Barwon Roy Butler, seeking urgent action on police vacancies, police housing and regional policing incentives for Narrabri Shire.
