Narrabri NAIDOC celebration a success

NARRABRI’s NAIDOC community celebration was a success with up to 200 people attending festivities held at Collins Park on Friday. The event was a collaboration between Narrabri and District Community Aid Service (NDCAS), Narrabri Local Aboriginal Land Council, and Narrabri Shire Council. Funding support from the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) enabled the free community event to proceed. “Overall, it was a success. We had more than 10 services also attend,” NDCAS community engagement and communications coordinator Kayla Nehrkorn said. ‘Roadtrip’ exhibition rolls into Wee Waa, making a creativepit stop at the Yellow Door

THE Wandering Art Collective recently pulled into Wee Waa’s Yellow Door to unveil its latest exhibition called Roadtrip, which is on display until 22 August. The Yellow Door, officially known as the Wee Waa Community Arts and Cultural Centre (WWCACC), welcomed seven of the exhibition’s 12 artists from across the North West region, who have reimagined discarded car parts in their own unique styles to create a vibrant and surprising display. Cotton communities shine in Click 26 photo awards

THE people, families and communities at the heart of Australia’s cotton industry have taken centre stage in this year’s Click 26 Photo Competition, with more than 160 entries capturing life across cotton-growing regions. The annual competition, themed ‘The people behind Australian cotton’, attracted photographs showcasing the everyday moments, landscapes and relationships that define the industry, highlighting that Australian cotton is about more than the crop itself. Weanworking beesmake race daypicture perfect

FOR the past few months, local volunteers gathered for weekly working bees to get the racetrack and amenities in order ahead of the Wean Picnic Races, which were held on Saturday 11 July. Putting the new fence in the inner ring, cleaning out the clubhouse, stables and oodles of painting were just some of the jobs ticked off the list before the big day.
