Violet Street bridge upgrade budget amended

Narrabri Shire Council has adopted an amended budget for the $7m replacement of the Violet Street bridge following a project delay. The council had previously announced the completion of the bridge would be delayed after piling works had taken longer than anticipated. Variations to the project has meant that additional costs will come from a $400,000 contingency allocated towards the project. Community invited to have say on draft bushfire risk plan

Residents across the Namoi Gwydir region are being invited to have their say on a draft plan aimed at reducing the impact of bushfires over the next five years. The Namoi Gwydir Bush Fire Management Committee has placed its draft Bush Fire Risk Management Plan on public exhibition, giving the community an opportunity to provide feedback on proposed strategies to manage bushfire risks. The plan maps and describes bushfire risks across the region and outlines treatment strategies designed to minimise and mitigate those risks. Feathers were nearly flying, tails were wagging and much-loved pets were on parade as Wee Waa’s popular pet show brought together creatures great and small – from a horse and goat to chooks, dogs and even yabbies. Almost 130 checks at health van’s visit

The Men’s Health Educational Rural Van (MHERV) has visited the North West region and conducted almost 130 health checks. The van, an initiative of the Rotary Club of Warners Bay and supported by local clubs, was recently located at Narrabri Bunnings and in Conadilly Street, Gunnedah. This year, the van’s nurse Kath Wyborn, with husband Craig, welcomed community members to spend a few minutes for important health checks.
