Richard Herden honoured with Pride of Workmanship award

RICHARD Herden’s dedication to excellent customer service has seen him honoured with the Rotary Club of Narrabri’s Pride of Workmanship award. The club’s annual award, which celebrates excellence in the workplace, was announced at a presentation dinner last week. Richard, of McKechnie Bros Home Hardware, is known for going the extra mile for customers. Three finalists were also celebrated, including Fiona Fogarty, Kylie Rood-England and Kylie Schwager. Narrabri remembers at Victory in the Pacific, Vietnam Veterans’ Day commemoration

NARRABRI paused to honour service and sacrifice at the annual Victory in the Pacific Day and Vietnam Veterans’ Day joint commemoration. A service was held by the Narrabri RSL Sub-branch at the Narrabri War Memorial on Saturday morning. Student participation again formed a key part of the commemoration, with the four Narrabri schools represented. St Francis Xavier’s captains Stella Craig and Weston Burgmann presented an oration on the war in the Pacific. Showstopper weekend in Wee Waa Young rural leaders sashed as community celebrates 90th show

IT was a showstopper weekend in Wee Waa, with the town’s 90th show kicking off on Friday. A highlight of the popular community event is always the announcement of the Young Woman of the Year winners on Friday night. This year, Wee Waa’s Mackenzie Jones was crowned the Senior Young Woman of the Year winner and Spring Plains’ Zoe Pocock was named Junior winner. Montana Winter was named Senior Young Woman runner-up and Elly-May Johns the Junior Young Woman runner-up. Appeal to locate missing Narrabri teen

NSW Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a teenage boy missing from Narrabri. Michael Kirby, aged 18, was last seen at Narrabri Railway Station, on Friday 17 July 2026. When he could not be located or contacted, officers attached to Oxley Police District were notified about 4pm on Saturday 15 August and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts. Police hold concerns for Michael’s welfare as his disappearance is out of character.
