As the Narrabri Shire community again prepares to celebrate excellence at the annual business awards, The Courier has looked back into its archives at previous awards dinners.
Wee Waa High School’s class of 2026 not only celebrated their formal in fabulous fashion, but they also arrived in style. Dressed to impress, the students looked spectacular as they arrived in a variety of vehicles. From shiny utes and spruced-up classic cars to the local police paddy wagon, which provided a bit of fun. Each student made a memorable entrance, setting the scene for a wonderful evening with family, friends and the WWHS staff and community. Across the community, there are countless women quietly giving their time, energy and care to help others. They may be volunteers, community leaders, dedicated family members, or simply the person everyone knows they can turn to when a helping hand is needed. Each year, Narrabri Self-Improvement and Help to Others (SIAHTO) recognises one of these remarkable women with its Woman of the Year award, an honour that has been presented annually since 1982. Testing conducted on the Namoi reservoir has shown continued improvement, with Narrabri Shire Council publishing the latest PFAS results. Results from tests on 17 September show PFHxS as 1ng/l, below the recommended 30ng/l. This result was in line with the previous testing conducted in August. PFOS has improved to just 2ng/l, below the guideline of 8ng/l. This was an improvement on the previous month. Both PFOA and PFBS were again undetected.
