Maules Creek residents will gather for their annual Anzac Day remembrance this Thursday, April 25 at 10.55am at the Maules Creek Recreation Ground.

The Camp Draft Club will lead a mounted escort along Harparary Road, to Maules Creek Memorial Park, where the special service will be conducted under the watchful eye of the memorial monument of a Light Horse and mounted troop, commemorating the 52 Light Horse Men of Maules Creek, who served in WWII.

Recreation Reserve Trust member Steve Bradshaw APM will take his place in the procession, in Australian Light Horse uniform, leading his horse, in full military tack, with boots backwards.

This year’s Anzac commemorations will give reference to the history of the Rural Australian Air Force (RAAF) centenary, with retired RAAF Nick Bradshaw giving a special address to mark the occasion.

As well as a reading from the local memoir, Maules Creek at War, and observation of the Last Post, the ceremony will be conducted to fit its proudly observed traditional format.

Upon conclusion, guests and locals are invited to attend the community hall for fellowship and a BYO lunch.
