Students thanked for efforts with RFS

Twelve Narrabri High School students have taken part in the Rural Fire Service Secondary Schools Cadet program, which was open to Year 9 and 10 students as an alternative physical education activity.
The program was designed to teach cadets skills such as basic fire fighting skills, appreciation of community/volunteer spirit, appreciation of role of emergency services, appreciation of the fire behaviour and therefore fire safety, and confidence, team work, leadership and initiative.
There were seven volunteers and staff from the Namoi-Gwydir team who assisted with the delivery of the program, under the direction of Namoi-Gwydir team cadet coordinator Stephen Pritchard.
Mr Pritchard and team members Mandy Brown and Superintendent Michael Brooks attended an assembly at the school yesterday to present the students with certificates upon completion of the program, and to thank them for their efforts.
