Narrabri District Cricket Association hosted its fifth annual Charity Cup match on Friday, December 7, at Collins Park.

Before that game was contested the second junior 10s curtain raiser was held, which saw Country and Town go head-to-head in a 10-over match.

Country won that match by 22 runs. Town skipper Joey Fowler won the toss and sent Country into bat.

The Thunder made 3-98 from its 10 overs before bowling the Heat out for 76.

Angus Galagher and Tim Shields opened the batting for Country.

The pair combined for a 36-run partnership which lasted four overs. It was broken when Angus (17) was caught by Will Ford from the bowling of Joey from the first ball of the fifth over.

Angus hit two fours and a six in that innings.

Four balls later Tim (7) also departed, caught by Sid Harvey. That made the score 2-38 after five overs.

Country did not lose another wicket until the second last ball of the game. Skipper Dylan Smith (27*) and Zack

Doring (28) combined for a 61-run partnership which was broken by a sensational diving catch by Sid from his own bowling to dismiss Zack.

That made the score 3-97, which became 3-98 when Dylan hit a single from the last ball of the over.

Town was cruising at 2-55 in the sixth over before its innings began to fall apart.

The chasing side lost its last eight wickets while adding just 11 runs to the total.

Six Country players took wickets.

Dustyn Allen was the star of the innings, taking a hat trick in the final over to finish with 3-1.

Callum Mallows took 2-10 from his over, and Zack (1-4), James Elms (1- 4), Angus (1-9), Lucas Hogan (1-12) all took a wicket each from their respective overs.
