The introduction of the Western Imperial Razorbacks changed the landscape of the Narrabri District Cricket Association competitions this season.
Initially the impact of the Wee Waa-based side was simply the addition of one more team which resulted in a draw restructure.
But now it is so much more.
The Western Imperial Razorbacks have well and truly raised the bar in the NDCA first grade competition and are currently the benchmark of cricket in Narrabri.
The Western Imperial men are ranked first on the 45-over competition ladder following five wins, two washout draws and a loss on 58 points – a win ahead of RSL and Tatts.
And now they are the first grade T20 champions.
On Saturday night the Razorbacks lined up against Tatts in the first grade T20 final.
The Western Imperial men batted first and finished with 8-100 from their 20 overs.
That set Tatts 101 runs to chase but it fell 25 runs short, all out for 76 in the 18th over.
Razorbacks skipper and opening batsman Justin Knight stood up for his side, producing a man-of-the-match performance which included a match-high 46 runs from 39 balls.
Knight smashed six fours and a six during his 59 minutes in the middle.
He was one of only three Razorbacks batsmen to reach double figures, the other two being Ben Edwards (19) and Josh Trindall (13).
Knight then backed that up with the ball, taking 2-6 from three overs.
But it was Tim Cameron who was the main man with the ball.
Cameron, the leading wicket taker in the NDCA first grade T20 regular season, dismissed three of Tatts’ top four batsmen and finished with 4-28 from four overs.
Josh Trindall produced one of the spells of the season with 2-4 from three overs which included a maiden late in the innings as well as the final wicket which completed the win.
Other wicket takers were Dylan Smith (1-5 from two overs) and Zack Trindall (1-20 from four overs)
