Boggabri Kangaroos has won its inaugural 2019 Group Four Rugby League first grade match after defeating the Dungowan Cowboys in wet conditions.

The Kangaroos fought hard in slippery circumstances and pulled off a huge win to take its first two points since the re-branding of the competition.

Boggabri was behind 18-10 at half time but fought extremely hard to work back into the contest with solid defence, winning the match 22-18.

Nathan Millar, Ben Haire and Jayde Campbell scored the tries with Campbell also converting three goals.

One of Boggabri’s newest editions Kahn Juhnke earned three Group Four best and fairest points while Campbell had a stellar game earning a single Group Four best and fairest point.

President Greg Haire said the performance was amazing considering the circumstances.

“We hadn’t beat the Cowboys in Dungowan since we rejoined the competition in 2013,” said Haire.
