The Narrabri Blues have torn through the Werris Creek Magpies 40-22 on Sunday afternoon in round 10 of the Group Four Rugby League first grade competition.
The Blues bounced back from a round nine loss against the Boggabri Kangaroos and it was player-coach Brenton Cochrane who led the charge.
Cochrane scored an amazing five tries, which accumulated to 20 points in his side’s 18-point win.
Toby Bentley, Isaiah Adams and Raymond Goodwin all scored a try each for the Blues.
Josh Trindall was able to convert four goals to add to his point scoring tally.
Surprisingly Cochrane did not pick up any best and fairest points but instead it was Narrabri’s Travis Small who was awarded three Group Four Rugby League best and fairest points in his side’s win.
Teammate Daniel Jobson picked up a single best and fairest competition point.
In other first grade results the North Tamworth Bears crushed the Dungowan Cowboys 44-16 and Kootingal Moonbi Roosters defeated the Gunnedah Bulldogs 38-10.
Those results saw the Blues leapfrog Gunnedah on the table and re-enter the top four.
Gunnedah slipped from third to fifth following its loss against Kootingal.
Kootingal also jumped over the Bulldogs and is now third on 11 points, just one point ahead of fourth-placed Narrabri.
