“Best we’ve ever had”

“I reckon it’s the best one we’ve ever had.”

That is what Narrabri Polocrosse Club president Grame Elford thought about the club’s carnival on the weekend.

The carnival was hosted from Friday to Sunday and it was a roaring success.

A total of 80 teams competed at the event which was held at the club’s home ground at the Narrabri Racecourse.

Of those 80 teams 20 competed in the annual Landmark Junior Challenge, while two were international teams as Australia and New Zealand went to battle in a Trans-Tasman Junior Test Series.

The sub-junior division was strong with the future of polocrosse on show, with 69 subbies competing at the carnival.

There was a grand total of 150 games played across a weekend which Narrabri Polocrosse Club president Elford labelled a huge success.

“Absolutely,” he said when asked if the carnival was a success. “I reckon it’s the best one we’ve ever had.”

Elford was full of praise for his committee, who he said helped make the carnival one of the most organised in recent history.

The club hosted two nights of entertainment on Friday and Saturday, with a DJ playing music well into the night, which Elford said were popular.

He said that watching Australia record a clean sweep against New Zealand in the three junior test matches was one of the most pleasing aspects of the weekend.
