Young gun Blues score first win

Lachlan Trindall’s face said it all.

Lachlan Trindall was all smiles on his way to the tryline as he scored his team’s ninth and final four-pointer.

Liam Mark following a line break, Trindall wore a huge smile before grounding for his second four-pointer of the round 10 game.

It was the Blues’ ninth and final try of the contest which they won 52-16 in front of a vocal home crowd at Collins Park.

Trindall’s smile and he and his team’s post-try celebrations told the story as the side secured its first win of the 2019 season.

It was one that had definitely been coming for a while according to captain Jordyn Mowle who said his team had played well throughout the season with no reward.

The Blues boys never looked like losing in the round 10 match.

A display of intensity and maturity within the side helped it capitalise on Kootingal’s mistakes.

The hosts opened the scoring in the first five minutes and continued their dominance until the final whistle.

The Blues scored a total of nine tries which included four individual doubles.

Narrabri’s halfback Tom Nolan crossed twice including an 80-metre dash which saw him race away from the Kootingal defence.

Teammates Trindall, Bailey Ballangary and Kaleb McMillan all scored doubles for the home side and Liam Doyle chipped in with a single try.

Harry Pattison converted eight goals for the Blues.

Trindall produced a man-of-the-match performance and collected three Group Four Rugby League best and fairest points for his efforts.

Teammate Jeff Harvey picked up a single best and fairest point.
