Narrabri FC wins minor premiership

Local soccer team Narrabri FC is once again the minor premiers of the Namoi Soccer League.

The competition’s regular season is now three quarters completed after two round 15 fixtures were contested on Saturday afternoon.

One of those was played in Narrabri when local rivals Narrabri FC and Crossroads Eleven FC went
head-to-head, while the other saw Wee Waa United FC take on Moree Services FC One in Moree.

Narrabri FC extended its season winning streak to 12 consecutive games with a 5-1 victory against Crossroads, while Wee Waa and Moree One played out a 2-2 draw.

Those results saw Narrabri FC extend its lead at the top of the competition ladder to 14 points.

By doing so the side claimed its third consecutive minor premiership.

With all sides having just four matches left to play Narrabri FC cannot be overtaken at the top of the table, even if it loses all four of its remaining matches.

At Hogan Oval a Blake Jarrett hat trick and goals to teammates Cooper Brayshaw and Colby Williams got the job done for Narrabri FC after the team went behind early in the match.

Crossroads scored its first goal against Narrabri FC in nine games spanning across three seasons when centre back Chris Simmons found the top left corner from a close-range strike following a corner kick on the 10-minute mark.

It was a well-deserved goal for Crossroads which dominated the early proceedings.

The team’s striker Ryan O’Neil had caused the Narrabri FC defence several headaches early on and was unlucky not to have scored himself.

After conceding just its fifth goal all season, Narrabri FC switched on and found an equaliser just two minutes later.
