Narrabri’s future is in safe hands

Narrabri soccer star Aimee Fladrick has been invited to travel to Europe in 2020 with Wanderers Australia.

Aimee plays goalkeeper for Narrabri Junior Soccer Club under-16s but now the Narrabri local will have a chance to test herself against international players.

Wanderers Australia will send a girls’ soccer squad to the United Kingdom and France in the 2020 January school holidays.

The Australian side will play against school, club and representative teams throughout the tour.

Aimee will be leaving Australia January 1, 2020 and return on the evening of January 19.

The Narrabri junior goalkeeper will watch an English Premier League match, tour the Ethiad Stadium, home of the English Premier League champions
Manchester City or explore Anfield, the stadium of the European Champions League winners Liverpool and enjoy the wonderful sights of Paris on her journey.

Aimee said that her passion for soccer started at a young age.

“I’ve been playing soccer for a while now,” she said.

“It really all started when I was in year six when I represented North West in soccer.

“From there I was invited to play with the Northern Inland Football where I played for a year.

“And finally I went to Northern Inland Academy of Sport.”

Aimee’s journey came full circle when once again she was selected to represent the North West School Sports Association.

“This year I went back to play with North West,” said Aimee.

“There were people from Wanderers Australia at the event, looking to invite players to the tour and I was lucky enough to be invited.

“I was really excited when I first found out and I wasn’t sure if it was real or not.

Aimee is thrilled to be able to enjoy the sights of Europe and being able to develop her own game in the process.

“I’m really looking forward to learning a few things and being taught stuff I haven’t learned yet.

“I am also getting pretty excited about watching the Premier League match, we’re not sure who we are watching yet but it will be great.”

The tour will be led by experienced managers and coaches from across Australia.

Some training sessions will be held by former or current W-League stars and could involve former players from the Australian national women’s side, the Matildas.
