The community was the big winner in the inaugural Back to the ‘Bri festival on Saturday.

Many visitors came to Narrabri, reunions and get togethers were the highlight of the weekend and the Collins Park festival was a huge success.

The festival brought people together for an event to remember.

‘Back to the ‘Bri’ has set the scene for an annual festival with enthusiasm high among visitors and
organisers to make the fixture a regular community event.

Organisers have been working for months to stage the festival, and were entitled to reflect on a successful achievement at day’s end on Saturday.

The Back to the ‘Bri festival was launched by Narrabri Chamber of Commerce as a ‘celebration of the community’ and received a big ‘thumbs up’ from visitors and locals who hosted them.

Back to the ‘Bri was aimed at encouraging former Narrabri residents to make the long weekend the occasion to return home, catch up with family and friends and celebrate.

The focal point of the weekend was the festival in Collins Park.

A major feature, the inaugural Narrabri Truck Show, was a resounding success with strong support for the show coming from local operators, regional and coast trucking businesses – 63 prime movers were parked around the Collins Park oval.

The strength of local representation underlined the importance of the heavy transport industry in the Narrabri district and its key role in the economy.

“It has been a great weekend” one of the organisers commented.

“People are coming up to let us know how much they have enjoyed it and to make sure we stage a Back to the ‘Bri and a Narrabri Truck Show again next year.”
