Rain was predicted, and didn’t come apart from a few spots, but the dust did come on Saturday afternoon as the biennial Narrabri Public School Fete was held.

But the dust and wind did not deter the Fete goers from the school community.

“We had an amazingly fantastic Fete,” said principal Marion Tame.

“The Fete raised more than $11,000, with a final count still going on.

“It was a wonderful effort by the community in supporting us.”

The school fete is organised by the P and C with the full engagement of the school community.

Much planning and preparation went into the Fete and the work paid dividends.

‘We were delighted with the event,” said Mrs Tame.

“In the morning the dust looked ominous, but it turned out to be a fantastic day for us.

“There were steady winds but people kept coming along in a steady stream all afternoon.”

There was a huge array of innovative features and entertainment for Fete visitors.

“Some events we modified because of the conditions like the jumping castle and the helium balloons,” said Mrs Tame.

“We just moved events into sheltered areas away from the dust and the wind.

“Everyone came along and had a great day.”
