The Narrabri Rugby League Football Club put several weeks of turmoil behind it last night when it filled the president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer positions at its annual general meeting.

The club hosted its original annual general meeting on Tuesday, October 29, but then had to reschedule to a later date due to lack of numbers.

A new date of November 10 was then locked in, but again a lack of numbers saw the meeting rescheduled.

With Group Four Rugby League requiring team nominations this Friday, the third and final annual general meeting was held last night where the club was successful in forming a committee.

The Blues will enter the season with Tom Mason at the helm with Ashley Hynch as his vice-president.

The club’s treasurer and secretary positions were filled by Bec McMillan and Amanda Smith respectively.

Eleven committee members also joined, with Pat Mowle, Daniel Jobson, Taylah Fogarty, Georgia Hardman, Matt Keefe, Wayne Saunders, Michael Gleeson, Barry Ford, Kalab McMillan, Clifford Toomey and Lesa Mason coming on board for season 2020.

It was decided at the annual general meeting that the Blues would field four sides in 2020, in first grade, reserve grade, under-18s and ladies’ league tag.

The club is now calling for expressions of interest for coaching positions for those teams.

Newly elected president Tom Mason spoke at the meeting about changing the culture of the club.

“I know it will be tough but I want to get back to having that family feel around the club,” said Mason.

“We need to plan everything, we need to focus on our goals throughout the year.

“We have to build this culture, we all should want to be around each other.”
