The Wee Waa and District Chamber of Commerce is calling all creative enthusiasts to share their artworks with the community at this year’s Christmas Mardi Gras, on Tuesday December 17.

A cottage at the beautiful Rose Street Gardens will be transformed into an art studio for the event and people of all ages have the opportunity to exhibit their masterpieces, from paintings and photographs to sculptures and more.

“I think there is so much talent in this district,” said artist Gerda Vogel who is coordinating the exhibition.

“People don’t realise how good they are and some might just need a little bit of encouragement,” Gerda added.

Of course, art is a form of therapy for many but during these dry and dusty times it’s hoped the exhibition will boost everyone’s spirits.

“Art is good for the soul, it takes your mind off things,” said Gerda.

The Mardi Gras kicks off at 6pm and there’s sure to be something for everyone from market stalls and Christmas shopping to face painting, delicious food and even a jumping castle.

This year, the inaugural art show will add a wonderful new twist to the popular street party as attendees now have the chance to stroll through the well-maintained, Rose Street Gardens and into the exhibition cottage.

Gerda is urging community members to showcase their artworks and said people who are interested are more than welcome to contact her to find out more by calling  0428  831 381 or emailing [email protected] (as advertised).

Art show entry forms can be found at the Wee Waa Library and Wee Waa Newsagency as well as on the Wee Waa and District Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.

Artwork entry is free but artists will have the option to sell their works on the evening.

The Mardi Gras art show will be the first event for the new Wee Waa Community Art and Culture Hub.
