Narrabri’s newest head shaved couple smashed their original goal at the Crossroads Hotel on Friday, November 29.

Josh and Sarah Gleeson lost their locks for two local charities.

The couple’s first target was to raise $500 before bumping it up to $1,000 and then to $2,000 after several generous donations.

After a night filled with family, friends and the Narrabri community the two raised over $4800 for Inala House accommodation and the Cancer Council’s Namoi Valley Transport to Treatment service.

Mrs Gleeson was grateful to the Narrabri community for being so generous.

“We just thought it was a tough time for everyone with the drought and leading up to Christmas, so we thought we’d set it at $500 and see what happens,” said Mrs Gleeson.

“It was so much fun and we had so much support, it was just wonderful.

“It was really overwhelming and I cried while I was having it shaved and a lot of people thought I was sad but it was just a wonderful feeling to do it.

Mrs Gleeson said it was a new and great experience for herself and Mr Gleeson.

“It’s different, my head feels very light haha,” she said.

“It surprising how quickly it’s already growing back.

“We’re actually having a little competition to see whose hair grows back quicker.”
