Hidden Treasure Joanne Tailby opened her Boggabri home and garden for a night on Tuesday, December 10, and raised $183 for the bush fire appeal.

Each year Mrs Tailby spends hours decorating her home and garden and has in the past won the Boggabri Christmas lights competition.

This year she decided to host an open house with people able to have a look inside her beautifully decorated home as well as the outside for a gold coin donation to the bush fire appeal.

She explained that a lot of people came and walked around the garden and ended up having a look inside the house, so she decided that it was a perfect opportunity to raise some funds.

Guests were treated to homemade Christmas cake and a glass of punch while they looked around and shared the Christmas spirit.

For the first time, Mrs Tailby talked her husband into wearing a ‘Santa’ suit.

He said it was very hot, especially the beard but he had a great night having photos with visitors.

A lot of the decorations in the garden have been recycled from pre-loved items, old junk and broken items such as vases, a pergola and bike wheels. These are then painted and decorated with lights.

People will be able to see the lights in the garden and on the outside of the house but not the interior of the house until Christmas.
