Three young Wee Waarians are combining their passion for the pool with fundraising for sick children.

Jaxon Gray, Acacia Bell and Matilda Currey are taking part in the ‘Starlight Super Swim’.

As part of the challenge Jaxon and Acacia will swim 14 kilometres in 30 days and Matilda will swim 20 kilometres.

The mission of the Starlight Children’s Foundation is to “brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families”.

The foundation said that “every minute of every day a child is admitted to hospital in Australia”.

“I have chosen to participate in this fundraising program to raise money for sick kids,” said Acacia Bell.

“I already swim most days and so it may as well go to a good cause.

“Hopefully the money I raise will help sicks kids to participate in a variety of sports.”

The money raised will go towards Starlight’s in-hospital programs that are delivered every day to children around the country, lifting their spirits, building resilience and forming an integral part of their total care.

The programs include Captain Starlight and the Starlight Express Rooms that are found in children’s hospitals in Australia and provide a break from the relentless cycle of medical treatments and procedures for sick kids.

Jaxon Gray said he was “very grateful” to the people who sponsored his swimming mission so far.
