The Narrabri Jockey Club has been forced to cancel its annual raceday which was scheduled for Saturday, March 21.

In a statement on Thursday, February 27, the club said: “due to the recent rain and localised flooding event which saw thee feet of water over the racecourse and track… we are at present waiting for the NSW Racing official to inspect the track next Wednesday (March 4).”

That official inspected the track and informed the club that there was a lot of work that needed to be done to get the track ready for the raceday.

However, more rain on Sunday evening which continued well into Monday meant that it was now “not possible to complete the work required in the time we have” the club said in a statement yesterday.

The committee will now search for a new date for the club’s annual raceday for later in the year.
