NSW Police Force Commissioner Mick Fuller has today said that the state’s tough social-distancing restrictions won’t be lifted until June 30.

“When is the turn-off period for these health orders? It is 90 days and I certainly won’t be seeking an extension and hopefully people will have gotten the message,” said NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller at a press conference this morning.

Commissioner Mick Fuller held the press conference with NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Rob Stokes and NSW Health Executive Director of Health Protection Dr Jeremy McAnulty.

Dr Jeremy McAnulty this morning reported 116 new cases in NSW, “that’s down a little from the previous day,” he said.

“In total we’ve got 2298 confirmed cases in NSW now.

“Sadly we’ve had ten deaths including yesterday the death of a 67-year-old woman in Orange.”

“The acceleration of cases in NSW isn’t growing which is a good thing,” said Premier Berejiklian.

“So we know that we are having some level of success in reducing the spread but we have to maintain our vigilance. We are at a very critical phase.”

NSW Police Force Commissioner Mick Fuller released the below statement shortly after the press conference.

“NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard has issued directions to stop the spread of COVID-19, which kills people,” read the statement released by NSW Police Force Commissioner Mick Fuller.

“You must stay at home unless you have a reasonable excuse for leaving.

“Shopping for food, travel to work or school, medical treatment or exercise are all reasonable excuses.

“Exercise is important for physical and mental health. The list of exercise types is endless and it is not possible to list them all; and some forms of exercise are more active than others.

“The important thing is that people comply with the two person rule when doing exercise, or that they only exercise with their household.

“As I keep saying, a good rule of thumb is that if you are questioning whether you should be doing something, it is best to give it a miss.

“Treat every situation like YOU have the virus.

“DO THAT. SAVE LIVES,” read the statement.
