The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service was called to help a 30-year-old female who had a fall while rock climbing at Waa Gorge in the northern area of the Mount Kaputar National Park.

“A rock climber fell in the gorge, requiring treatment from NSW Ambulance paramedics and NSW Health doctors.

“The aircraft medical team were able to access the young lady with some difficulty,” read a statement from WRHS.

“She was treated for a fractured ankle and stabilised.

“Once stabilised, she was winched into the helicopter with the medical team and flown to Tamworth.

“The lady was transported to the Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital in a stable condition.”
