Speakers for and against the proposed Narrabri Gas Project will make their pitch to the Independent Planning Commission via videolink from The Crossing Theatre next week.

The public hearings will be held from Monday, July 20 to Friday, July 24.

Speakers, who must have registered in advance, will have times alloted to them and will be ushered in and out of the presentation venue by IPC staff.

Usually a public hearing convened by the IPC is held with face to face meetings.

However, for the first time, the hearing into the gas project will be held electronically because of the COVID-19 restrictions on public gatherings.

The hearing will be broadcast on the Commission’s website.

If you have no or limited internet access, you’ll be able to listen to a live audio stream of proceedings by dialing 1800 093 431 and entering the following PIN: 61397377#

A transcript of the hearing will be published on the IPC website.

The Commission will accept written comments on the Narrabri Gas Project up to seven days after the hearing via email, post or the IPC online portal.

The Commission may extend the period for written comments by notice on its website. Written comments are weighed the same as spoken presentations, the IPC advises.
