Small plantations of colourful, handpainted spoons are springing up across the countryside, including Narrabri.

“It’s called ‘Spoonville Australia’ – a great community connection initiative,” a Narrabri supporter said.

“Everyone has been stuck in lockdown across Australia and my daughter in Victoria put me on to this. Everyone, mums, dads, grandparents are encouraged to get their kids to paint a spoon and make a little plantation.

“We have made a Spoonville 2390 and it is at Narrabri Lake.

“I started with my grandchildren and people have been adding to it. It’s really lovely and in some towns it’s huge,” she said.

“People, particularly in Victoria were doing things at home, painting spoons became a great exercise. We started off with a few and now there are seven more.

People should stroll along and take a look.”

The Spoonville plantation is just along the path beside the lake, a few metres in from the Ugoa Street side.
