Narrabri Garden Club members held their first meeting for the year last Wednesday at the Narrabri RSL Club.

Narrabri Shire’s cultural facilities manager Scott Pollock was the guest speaker.

“Scott entertained the members by first detailing his background with the National Trust and his work with historic homes and gardens,” said publicity officer Noeline Kiss.

“This was fascinating, as some of the sites he worked on have been visited by Narrabri Garden Club members on their many trips away.

“One of the properties was owned by the late James Fairfax and valued at many millions of dollars and is now part of the National Trust’s portfolio.

“Scott also gave a detailed presentation on the CREATE Festival to be staged in Narrabri in March.

“The CREATE program of events is very diverse and designed to be interesting for as many people as possible.

“He also spoke about the Outback Archies, presented by Outback Art, also about to begin at The Crossing Theatre.

“The CREATE Festival is a new event for Narrabri and is designed to enhance the already active cultural scene in Narrabri.”
