Narrabri Netball Association is looking forward to a bigger and better year in 2021, after the 2020 winter ladies’ season and summer mixed twilight competitions were both cancelled due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The association will host a 2021 season for senior and junior ladies which is expected to start in April.

It will also hold its annual general meeting this Saturday.

Narrabri Netball Association recently held trials for its 2021 representative teams which have since been named.

Those teams are as follows:

Under-12s: Edwina Keft, Payton Knight, Bella Bakhuis, Menzie Baker-Harvey, Rya Knox, Imalia Gordon, Aleira Sunderland, Maya Watson, Emily Croker, Taylor Horne. Coach – Angie Knox.

Under-13s: Taryn Kirk, Hattie Capp, Jamaya Biles, Georgia Horne, Klaryssa Briggs, Maxine O’Connor, Olivia Shields, Summer Fernance, Josie Harvey, Ashley Morris. Coach – Lauren Smart.

Under-14s: Tayla Nott, Brittney Schwager, Jayde Goodhew, Lily Campbell, Megan Crutcher, Callie Lawler, Matilda Currey, Taneika Cochrane, Juliet Maxwell, Asher Kelly. Coach – Kerry Crutcher.

Under-15s: Lara Sunderland, Mackenzie Knox, Zara Watson, Emily Hartnet, Lyneah Mason, Amelia McCauley, Maeve Harris, Bridie Russell, Mietta Smith, Brigette Rose.

Under-17s: Lucy Crutcher, Lilly Maxwell, Emma Redfern, Claudia Penberthy, Zara Bennett, Ella Tomlinson, Clare Jensen, May Krishna, Charlotte Rainger. Coach – Bronwyn Noble.

Opens: Annabelle Read, Sophie Browning, Lauren Smart, Cassidy Staines, Ellen John, Breeana Smith, Amy Sampson, Emma Cain, Maddison Russell, Zoe Campbell, Liz Whitely.

Narrabri Netball Association is still seeking coaches for the under-15s and opens teams.

It told The Courier that it was pleased that players like Lauren Smart, pictured above, have come through the ranks as juniors through to seniors and are now giving back to the game in Narrabri by coaching or taking up committee positions or both, in Smart’s case.
