This year’s Narrabri High School swimming carnival took place on Friday March 5, after being postponed due to wet weather.

Despite taking place a week later, the shining sun provided the perfect conditions for a dip in the local pool.

Spirits were high, goggles were on, and there were plenty of fun costumes and makeup worn proudly by students of every team.

The 2021 twilight carnival was a real nail-biter.

Just seven points separated the winning house, Marara, from runners-up Lowana, followed by Currong in third place, and then Aranda.

Proud sports captains Ella Tomlinson and Ben Thompson, who were both named individually as place-getters in their age groups, led the mighty blue team to victory.

The other champions for their age group were Menzie Baker-Harvey (12 years), Summer Fernance and Patrick Welsh (13 years), Millie Collins and Daniel Smith (14 years), Clare Jensen and Baxter Capp (15 years), the aforementioned Ella Tomlinson and Alex Mison (16 years), as well as Charlotte Penberthy and Lachlan Large (17+ years).

The runners-up on the day were Skye Manning (12 years), Isabella Keys tied with Estelle Eather and Rory Holman tied with Christian Roth (13 years), Matilda Wallington and Riley Bruce (14 years), Holly Ford and Digby Chiplin (15 years), Claudia Penberthy and Bernard O’Connor tied with Matthew Johnson (16 years), plus Martha Harvey tied with May Krishna and the aforementioned Ben Thompson (17+ years).
