On Saturday, March 6, fundraising began in earnest for Kristy Pattison and Sarah Gleeson’s Stars of Narrabri Dance for Cancer campaign at the Narrabri RSL Club.

The popular Stars of Narrabri Dance for Cancer event, headed by the Cancer Council, will be held on Saturday, May 15 at The Crossing Theatre.

Stars of Narrabri is a gala fundraising night where ten local well known business and community personalities engage with an experienced dance coach to practise a chosen dance routine.

They then compete against each other on the big night for the winner’s title.

Fundraising takes place during the lead up to the event via an online fundraising page and through community fundraising activities such as trivia nights, golf days, raffles, barbecues, cake stalls and auctions.

All monies raised from these events go to support the Cancer Council and its local practical support initiatives, such as transport to treatment, accommodation support, home help and emergency financial support, as well as cancer prevention programs and research projects.

Kristy and Sarah were thrilled with the success of Saturday night’s trivia extravaganza.

“We chose to hold a trivia night as we thought it would be a fun way to raise money for such a great cause,” Mrs Gleeson said.

“We had so much support from businesses around Narrabri, and we can’t express how thankful we are for their generosity,” she said.

“The trivia night was a huge success, we raised $3755.20 and cannot thank everyone enough that attended the event, we hope you had as much fun as we did.

“We’re working hard on our rehearsals and can’t wait to see what the other dancers come up with.

“We hope everyone can make it to Stars of Narrabri Dance for Cancer, you won’t regret it.”
