Narrabri Polocrosse Club duo Darcy Dickson and Blake Fielder competed at the Sydney Royal Easter Show’s 2021 polocrosse exhibition with great success on Easter Sunday and Monday.

The two 12-year-old Narrabri boys were teammates at the annual event, playing two matches on day one and two more on day two as members of the ‘RAS’ team.

On day one, they went down in both games following two nail-biting finishes. Those two contests finished 11-10 and 7-8. The Narrabri boys’ team bounced back to win 14-8 and 8-5 on day two.

Those results meant that RAS was crowned the winning team, while Blake and Darcy also earned individual honours with Blake, who played on his horse Captain, named the best number one and Darcy, who played on his horse Dallas, picking up best horse and rider combination.

The boys also had the privilege of taking part in a parade to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the Australian Stock Horse Society as well as the Sydney Royal Easter Show’s grand parade which was a first for many years for polocrosse players.

“We had a lot of fun,” Blake said.

“It was good playing polocrosse and meeting some new people too.”

“I had a fair bit of fun,” Darcy added.

“I’d never been to the Sydney show before.”

For Blake, the Sydney Royal Easter Show exhibition event was his first polocrosse hitout for 2021 while Darcy competed at the Walcha Polocrosse Club carnival last month.

Both boys have now turned their attention to the Muswellbrook Polocrosse Club carnival at which they will compete next month.
