Your weekend entertainment is sorted, thanks to Narrabri Shire Council and The Crossing Theatre.

Enjoy the big screen the old-fashioned way, from the comfort of your own vehicle at the drive-in cinema at Wee Waa this Friday.

Perfect for all ages, this special event gives locals the chance to experience weekend entertainment a little differently, all while giving back to charity.

“Some of the proceeds from the drive-in tickets will go to Westpac Rescue Helicopter, so it’s a great excuse to get together with loved ones for a fun, impactful night,” The Crossing Theatre’s Paul Shelley explained.

Gates will open at the Wee Waa Showground from 5.30pm, for a 6.30pm start.

The 2015 family favourite Oddball (PG) will be showing, with food and snacks available for purchase on the night.

The film tells the story of an eccentric chicken farmer who, with the help of his granddaughter, trains his mischievous dog Oddball to protect a penguin sanctuary from fox attacks in hopes of reuniting his family and saving their seaside town.

“It’s an Aussie classic, starring Shane Jacobson and Sarah Snook, so all ages are sure to enjoy this heart-warming underdog story,” Mr Shelley said.

And, with the cold snap predicted to have eased by the weekend, it’s the perfect occasion for a night out in Wee Waa.

Guests are reminded that they will need to tune into an FM station, so please ensure your vehicle has this capacity.

There will also be an area just in front of the big screen, where locals can set up chairs and picnic blankets, if you’re not satisfied with the view from your car.

At just $5 per person, or $15 a car, this affordable event is not to be missed, Mr Shelley suggests.

The cinema’s capacity is limited to 50 cars, and the event will operate according to “first in, best dressed”.

Tickets can be bought online via the events tab on www.crossingtheatre.com.au, or via phone call to The Crossing Theatre on (02) 6799 6740.
