When Cayla Packer and Blake Richardson attended Narrabri West Primary School more than two decades ago, no one could have possibly imagined that one day there would be a beautiful wedding uniting their two families.

On March 9, Cayla and Blake were married by celebrant Monty King at the picturesque Adams Peak Country Estate in Broke.

The celebrations were a culmination of a union which began when the pair were high school sweethearts 13 years ago.

Seventy guests attended the wedding hosted by parents of the bride Stephen and Sarah Packer and parents of the groom Shane and Debbie Richardson.

The bride wore a white Grace Loves Lace low-backed tulle gown.

Blake was dressed in a cream linen suit by Daniel Hechter Paris.

The bride and groom averted tradition with no official wedding party, though Cayla and Blake’s close friends attended them throughout the day with Nathan and Janie Weaver officiating as witnesses.

Speeches were made by father of the bride Stephen Packer, father of the groom Shane Richardson, grandfather of the groom John Richardson, and brother of the bride Jake Packer.

Blake responded to the heartfelt speeches and expressed gratitude for the kind expressions of welcome into both families.

A vanilla buttercream wedding cake was adorned with pink and white flowers which together with the bride’s hairpiece was designed by Blooms on Maitland.

The flowers, entertainment and catering for the day were provided by local businesses from the Hunter Valley.

The first dance, cleverly choreographed by the bride and groom, entertained the guests with a mashup mix of songs, mixed by DJ and close friend Nathan Weaver.

The bride’s mother, Sarah Packer, spoke on behalf of the families saying: “It was a wonderful day. Everything ran smoothly thanks to all those involved”.

The next day a recovery event was organised with the families enjoying a wine tour through the Hunter Valley.

Blake and Cayla left for a honeymoon to Port Douglas and Cairns before returning to their home-base in Narrabri.
