On Friday night, April 30, Jally Entertainment brought Margaret Fulton the Musical to Narrabri’s The Crossing Theatre.

This quality production told the story of the innovative cookbook queen Margaret Fulton OAM in song and dance.

From a girlhood growing up in Glen Innes through to her success as an author and TV presenter, Margaret Fulton transformed dinner parties in the 1960s, from ‘meat and three veg’ to the then exotic cuisine with an international influence.

The perfect set, comprised of a retro kitchen and dining room was beautifully fitted out in the style of the times.

It featured details familiar to many in the audience including an orange crockpot and three-tiered cake tin which adorned the shelves of the kitchen, complete with full-size free-standing fridge, oven and cooktop.

The pressure cooker segment delighted theatre-goers who could identify with the lyrics which alluded to the disasters many had experienced with one of the these devices.

The six-member cast gave a wonderful performance.

“Narrabri may have been a small audience, however, we’ve had audiences of 500 who haven’t been as demonstrably enthusiastic,” said the producer and co-proprietor of Jally Entertainment, Alli Pope.

“We love coming to Narrabri and always feel warmly welcomed,” Ms Pope said.

Margaret Fulton the Musical is touring nationally and performed at the Roxy Theatre in Bingara on Saturday.

Two performances were scheduled, a matinee and evening production.

After Bingara the company will perform in South Australia, Western Australia, Far North Queensland, Victoria, then back to NSW finishing the tour in Tamworth on August 10.

Theatre-goers commented that they loved the show, it was superbly done with infinite attention to detail and that it was extremely entertaining and great to have live theatre back at The Crossing Theatre.

Jally Entertainment will be presenting Snow White and the Seven Cool Dudes later in the year.
