Narrabri Station Commander, Captain Shane Bradford AFSM has notched up 30 years of service with Fire and Rescue NSW.

Captain Bradford officially joined the ranks of the then NSW Fire Brigades on May 1, 1991, at Narrabri Fire Station progressing through the ranks to Engine Keeper in 1998, Deputy Captain in 2001 and Captain/Station Commander in 2009.

Over his 30 year career, Shane has attended numerous incidents throughout the Narrabri Shire and NSW which has seen him take part in several of the region’s major fires, rescues, floods, storms and hazardous material incidents.

In 2015, Shane was awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM) in the Queen’s Birthday Honour List for his commitment and distinguished service to Fire and Rescue NSW.

The AFSM is the highest honour for any firefighter in Australia and is one of the many honour/awards received by Captain Bradford throughout his 30 years of service.

These include, the National Medal (1st Clasp), FRNSW Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (2nd Clasp), FBEU Medal and the 2019-20 NSW Premier’s Bushfire Citation.
