Australia’s 18th census will be held on August 10.
The census, conducted every five years, is the most comprehensive snapshot of our economic, social and cultural makeup.
The information gathered is used by government, business and community groups for a range of decision making, including the provision of infrastructure and services such as health, roads, and schools.
It is anticipated that Narrabri Shire will show a growth in population.
Other regional areas could reflect an increase in population as well now that a trend for a move to the bush has been recorded.
However, the facts won’t be known until the numbers are in.
The count is a big job.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics will hire 38,000 temporary positions including field officer roles in the Northern Inland.
