A new multi million-dollar high school was announced this morning for the students and staff at Wee Waa High School.

Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell, joined by Nationals Upper House representative Sam Farraway, announced the new school from the temporary high school site at Wee Waa Public School.

“The past year has been an incredibly trying time for the students and staff at Wee Waa High School,” Ms Mitchell said.

“Experts are yet to identify what is causing these health issues.

“But what is definite is that the school community needs certainty, which is why I am so happy to be here with them today announcing a new high school on a new site.”

Approval has been granted to deliver the project and the Department of Education will now develop a design and continue consultation to deliver a new high school that meets the needs of the local community.

Sam Farraway said he would like to thank the Wee Waa community for their patience.

“I know that it has been a big adjustment for our students and their families while we have worked through finding a solution, but we now have light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.
