On Saturday, May 15, 50 years ago, Garry and Diane Burr were married at St Cyprian’s Church, Narrabri.

And this year, 60 family members and friends joined Garry and Diane on the very same date to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at the Narrabri Bowling Club.

Garry and Dianne’s three children attended the celebrations, Cindy and husband Ian Orman, Tracey McInnes and Rodney Burr, with four of their five grandchildren, Hayley and Kira Orman, and Nathan and Justin McInnes.

Unfortunately, son-in-law Jason McInnes and grandson Dylan McInnes were unable to attend.

A beautiful dinner was served to guests followed by a lovely wedding anniversary cake made by Watson’s Kitchen.

The couple’s original wedding cake was made by the late Eva Kneller and decorated by Eva’s daughter Dawn Armstrong.

Dawn created a plaque made with royal fondant icing especially for the 50th celebrations.

A moving touch to the evening was a surprise appearance on stage by Sally McFarland who played the bagpipes for delighted guests.

Rodney Burr officiated as MC with members of the original wedding party Dell Tink, Kevin Ford and Carolyn Slattery taking turns to reminisce with anecdotes of old times.
