To celebrate the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary, Janice and Dennis Smith along with their daughter Kristy and her husband Clinton Tucker travelled to Terrigal Crowne Plaza for a long weekend in March.

The Crowne Plaza had special significance as it was where Kristy and Clint were married 20 years ago.

The couple even booked the same room.

Their children Mabel and Lucas accompanied the family.

Part of the fun was having Mabel try on both her mother’s and grandmother’s wedding dresses.

“It was fabulous then and it’s fabulous now,” said Kristy.

“We all had a wonderful time”.

Janice and Dennis Smith on their wedding day.

Attendants in pretty summery gowns of red and white were a perfect foil for the bride, Janice Peggy Cunningham, at her marriage in Narrabri on Saturday to Dennis John Smith.

Janice is the elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Laurie Cunningham of Bailey Street, Narrabri, and Dennis is the elder son of Mr and Mrs Reuben Smith of Barwan Street, Narrabri.

Monsignor Corr officiated at the wedding ceremony at St Francis Xavier’s Catholic Church.

The church was decorated by Mrs Reuben Smith and friends of the bride.

Soloist for the ceremony was Mrs Pauline Baguley.

The bride’s lovely gown of satin-stripe spotted organza was made with a square neckline and short puffed sleeves.

An A-line skirt fell from the high Empire-line bodice and formed a small train.

Three deep frills starting at knee height bordered the skirt and train, and the neckline, bodice and sleeves were edged with guipure lace. Matching guipure lace banded the top of the skirt frills.

Her circular veil of white organza was edged with a fine red ribbon rouleau and she carried a single red rose with white ribbon.

Attendants were the matron-of-honour Sue Foster, junior bridesmaid Sally Cunningham (sister of the bride), flowergirl Nickie Bailey and pageboy Heath Bailey.

Gowns of red and white hail-spotted voile were worn by the matron-of-honour and junior bridesmaid.

A small frill trimmed the gathered neckline of the gowns and short puffed sleeves were trimmed with a small bow.

An A-line skirt fell from a high-peaked waistline, finished with a hemline frill.

A similar style in white hail-spotted violet with a wide red sash was worn by the flower girl.

The page boy’s suit was white with a red satin bowtie and red covered buttons.

The bride’s attendants and flower girl each carried a single white rose with red ribbon.

The page boy carried a white heart-shaped cushion with the wedding rings.

Mr Bob Foster was best man.

Guests were welcomed at a reception held at the Narrabri Golf Club.

An A-line gown in autumn toned rayon was worn by Mrs Cunningham.

Her gown featured a full roll neck collar and long full sleeves with a wrist band fastened with covered buttons.

The groom’s mother chose a chiffon gown in soft blue-green and mauve tones, made on an Empire-line, featured a centre front skirt panel of sunray pleating, long full sleeves, and a posy of blue and pink roses trimming the V-neckline.

Chairman at the reception was the groom’s uncle Mr Roger Smith.

The wedding cake had been made and beautifully decorated by Mrs June Percy.

After a honeymoon at Toukley, Janice and Dennis will make their home in Brisbane.
