The era of ePlanning is here.

The ePlanning program is an initiative of the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment with the aim of driving the digital transformation of the NSW planning system.

“From July 1, all development related applications and post consent certificates must be submitted online with Narrabri Shire Council through the NSW Planning Portal,” a council spokesperson said.

“It will cover development applications, section 4.55 applications to modify a development consent, and complying development certificates, construction certificate, occupation certificates and subdivision certificates where council is nominated to complete the assessment or is appointed as the principal certifier for a development.

Narrabri Shire Council’s planning team hosted an ePlanning industry information session on June 15 to help local trades and the building industry navigate the NSW Planning Portal.

All NSW councils are required to have all development applications and complying development certificates lodged online through the portal as of July 1.

“The ePlanning industry information session was an opportunity for local trades and those associated with the local building industry to come and speak to council’s planning staff about navigating the changes and acquainting themselves with the operations of the Planning Portal,” the council said.

General manager, Stewart Todd attended the event and said it was a great opportunity for industry professionals to meet and discuss how the coming changes affect them in a relaxed and informal environment.

“The planning staff were available to speak one-on-one to industry professionals and demonstrated the use of the new system throughout the evening.

“The evening was a huge success with the planning team proposing to hold more sessions like this on a range of topics of interest for our local trades and building industry.

“The council will be seeking feedback from participants on what type of information sessions they’d like covered and will work on arranging more sessions in the future.

“Council staff are ready to assist anyone in the community who requires support in understanding the new process or meeting the new planning obligations set by the NSW government.”
