Excitement has been bubbling away as the Nurruby Boggabri Early Learning facility prepared to open.

The centre doors opened to the community on Monday, June 28.

Rooms prepared, new state-of-the art equipment installed, and most importantly an amazing staff have been appointed to care for and educate the little people in our community.

Michelle Gosper has been appointed as director.

Michelle is a bubbly person who has a Diploma of Children’s Services, Bachelor of Early Learning and has been an educator for over 12 years.

As well as director, Michelle will be room leader in the nursery.

Michelle said: “I feel extremely lucky to have such an amazing team working alongside me.

“I would also like to say how welcome everyone in the community has made me feel.”

“The principal of the Boggabri Public School came and welcomed us and has invited the facility to participate in their Book Week activities, which is just wonderful.”

Educational leader and second-in -charge is Sharmaine Pagett, better known as ‘Shaz’.

Shaz started her career in childcare in 2012 and has a Diploma in Children’s Services and Certificate lll in Children’s Services, plus nine years’ experience.

As educational leader, Shaz is looking forward to supporting and mentoring the educators as well as being the preschool room leader.

Shaz says she loves watching children grow and develop.

She has four children of her own and one gorgeous grandson.

Her favourite saying is ‘It takes a village to raise a child’.

Kayla Snape probably doesn’t need a lot of introduction as she is a sixth generation member of a family to call Boggabri home.

Kayla holds a Diploma of Children’s Services and has over six years’ experience in long daycare, inclusion support, preschool and family daycare settings and has two children of her own.

Kayla will be an educator in the preschool room and in the nursery and has a special interest in children’s connection to the environment and nature and encourages outdoor play.

Camille Wannan is known in the community for the extensive volunteer hours she spends with the Boggabri Public School P & C committee as well as being the president of Ooranga Family

Mobile Resource Unit which provides early childhood experiences of playgroup and preschool.

Camille has two children who attend Boggabri Public School and is currently studying her Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.

Camille will be an educator in the preschool room.

Camille is passionate is about the community and making sure that everyone feels like they belong.

Alex Wynne brings a lot of passion and enthusiasm to her role as the centre’s outdoor play and experience leader.

Alex is looking forward to guiding the children and educators with outdoor activities.

Alex has a Certificate lll in Children’s Services and is currently studying a Diploma of Children’s Services and her goal is to complete a bachelor’s degree by 2026.

Alex will be an educator in the nursery.

While Alex says she only has nine months’ experience she has nine siblings so is probably the most experienced in homelife with little ones.

Alex has a special interest in special needs children and the disability sector and looks forward to guiding the children to a fulfilling life in the community as she says, ‘the children are our future.’
Jess Armstrong is studying for her Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

Jess has three boys and loves arts and crafts, painting and especially messy play like mud and water.

Jess has previously worked in a pharmacy but has always had a passion for child development and education.

Jess will be an educator in the preschool room and the nursery.

Sam Curran has a Certificate lll in Early Childhood Education and will be an educator in the preschool room and the nursery.

Sam has four years’ experience of working in the childcare industry in PCYC OOSH – before and after school and vacation care programs and Little Achievers and is looking forward to working with the families in Boggabri.

Sam has two children of her own who will be around the centre.

Sam has a special interest in sensory play and additional needs children.

Bronte Wilson has always wanted to teach and make beautiful experiences for children and has a Certificate lll, Diploma of Early Childhood Education, currently studying Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Teaching and has six years’ work experience.

Stephanie McArthur has been employed as a trainee with Nurruby Boggabri Early Learning Facility.

Stephanie is studying her Certificate lll and is super excited to be starting work.

Stephanie’s interest in early learning started when she started baby-sitting over three years ago.

She is looking forward to learning from the other educators within the facility and will be an educator in the nursery.
