Narrabri Shire Council has adopted its Operational Plan for 2021/2022, with some major projects in the pipeline.

Mayor Ron Campbell described the next 12 months as ‘an exciting and pivotal year for development, advancing the shire as a hub for energy, transport and manufacturing’.

“Every year, the council invests a considerable sum in improving infrastructure throughout the area,” Cr Campbell said.

“This year, there is a number of notable projects across the shire which will value-add to productivity and economic development.

“Investigations into Narrabri as a Special Activation Precinct and an Industrial and Logistics Hub offer a wonderful opportunity to link with manufacturing, freight and logistic chains, and to leverage key infrastructure projects such as the Inland Rail and accessibility to major road networks.”

External funding has been secured to assist with the council’s coming capital works program which includes replacement of Boggabri’s Boston Street bridge, stage one of the Tourism Hub, upgrades to the Narrabri Animal Shelter, investigations into the Green Hills Quarry expansion and replacement of the Tullamullen bridge, upgrades to major freight routes including Millie Road, Doreen Lane, Wave Hill Road and Culgoora Road, Narrabri Landfill Cell 1, water main renewals and future planning for upgrade of the Narrabri sewerage treatment plant.

“Working cohesively with government and the community, the plan for the future focuses on responsible and sustainable investment in critical infrastructure to prepare the shire for growth and diversity,” Cr Campbell said.
